Abstract
FORATTINI, Oswaldo Paulo; RABELLO, Ernesto Xavier and PATTOLI, Dino B. G.. Ecological aspects of American tripanosomiasis: IV - Mobility of Triatoma arthurneivai in natural ecotopes. Rev. Saúde Pública [online]. 1972, vol.6, n.2, pp. 183-188. ISSN 0034-8910. http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0034-89101972000200008.
Data on the movements of Triatoma arthurneivai in natural ecotopes are presented. The investigation was made by the tagging and recapture technique, at the locality of Bairro do Arado, Salto de Pirapora County, S. Paulo State, Brazil. Both adults and nymphs (fourth and fifth stadium) showed movements that reached until 10 and 15 meters from the release point. The survival recorded was greater for nymphs who showed some cases as long as twelve weeks. This was remarkable because these forms are apterous and so by walking only, they perform also a movement as the adults can do.
