Comunication of part of the results of a larger study, concerning the reproductive behaviour of a sample of 2857 women, who lived in the "Distrito of São Paulo" in 1965/66. These women were between 15 and 50 years of age and divided into 3 cohorts. Those women are caracterized from the social and demographic point of view. Hipoteses about the observed differences among the cohorts, are suggested.
