A study on the existing Inter-relationship between lactation and fertility and their socio-economic variables was done on a sample of the S. Paulo district women. Breast feeding lasted according to the number of the births, age, level of education and family monthly expenses. A relationship between the feeding time and the interval between two subsequent pregnancies was also found in women who don't use birth control methods.
