Abstract

FORATTINI, Oswaldo Paulo; SILVA, Eduardo Olavo da Rocha e; BARATA, José Maria Soares  and  BOAINAIN, Elias. A case of American Trypanosomiasis in the southern coastal region of S. Paulo State, Brazil. Rev. Saúde Pública [online]. 1980, vol.14, n.1, pp. 143-149. ISSN 0034-8910.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0034-89101980000100012.

An indigenous case of American Trypanosomiasis in the southern coastal region of the State of S. Paulo is reported on. There are no synanthropic triatominae vectors in the area; therefore the transmission mechanism may have been the handling of wild mammal carcasses while they were being prepared for consumption.

Keywords : Trypanosomiasis, South American [transmission by contamination]; Triatoma tibiamaculata; Natural foci.
