The treatment of paracoccidioidomycosis, with ketoconazole, at public health level is discussed. Eight patients were treated with single daily doses of 400 mg of ketoconazole for one year. The patients were treated at Health Center I in S. Carlos, Brazil. All patients treated showed clinical remission and an improvement in radiological findings. No side-effects were reported. The benefits of this treatment at Health Centers, under the administrative, social and economic aspects are stressed.
