Epidemics, a subject that has been present since the beginnings of Man's history, is treated in this article with special emphasis on the changes that the concept underwent during the course of History and on the several pratices of control that were developed in response to it. Scientists ans thisnkers of different periods are quoted, in search of a picture of these historical changes.
