Nowadays, it is indispensable in the approach to new biomedical problems, to make the analysis of their social context, and also to consider the role of scientific research in assistance through the new pieces of knowledge that it provides and their realization in the development of new technologies. Although it is evident that science enriches by several ways, the process known as scientific research is recognized as the main procedure to develop and expand its wealth of knowledge. The present paper was intended to assess some bioethical aspects of public health and the biomedical research but seen from a more global perspective.In addition to addressing general ethical aspects, new recently incorporated terms were mentioned such as equity and ethical imperialism, and besides, the main motivations of and limitations to the performance of clinical and epidemiological research studies in developing countries were examined.
