A study on the social determinants having an impact on the dengue spread was presented. It covered the main differences in their behaviour in the various social systems, underlined the basic elements for the control of these determinants and the components of the community-wide strategy for the prevention of this disease. The political willingness of the governments and the factors involved in the development of the intersectoral action in health are the indispensable factors to carry out community intervention for the control of dengue.
