This article presents and discusses the area of environmental health with special emphasis to the relation between production, environment and health. The discussion comprises historical aspects a particular approach to conceptual and methodoligcal questions, the scientific results of developed studies and the production of knowledge in the area. It also comprises a brief description of recommended basic actions for the mitigation prevention and control of environmental situations potencially harmful to health as well as of the proper health hazards and effects.
