Este fórum enfoca a resposta do setor saúde à violência sexual contra as mulheres, a partir da análise da política formulada pelo Ministério da Saúde do Brasil e da rotina de dois serviços universitários. Assume como pressuposto que a abordagem da violência se-xual exige que seja problematizada a autonomia das mulheres em relação ao seu corpo e, por conseguinte, o seu direito ao aborto. Esta vinculação intrínseca da violência sexual com questões de forte apelo moral e político tem contribuído para a relativa lentidão nas respostas do setor público de saúde. No entanto, a experiência de dois serviços universitários, pioneiros no atendimento a mulheres estupradas, demonstra a importância da presença destes conteúdos na formação do profissional de saúde, bem como a necessidade de ampliar o acesso das mulheres e garantir a continuidade do atendimento.Resumo em Inglês:
This forum focuses on the health sector's response to sexual violence against women, analyzing the policies formulated by the Brazilian Ministry of Health and the protocol in two academic health centers. The premise is that an approach to sexual violence requires the discussion of women's autonomy in relation to their bodies and thus their right to abortion. This intrinsic link between sexual violence and morally and politically loaded issues has contributed to the relatively slow response by the public health sector in Brazil. However, the pioneering experience of two academic health centers in treating rape victims demonstrates the importance of these issues in the training of health professionals and the need to guarantee women's expanded and ongoing access to these services.Resumo em Português:
Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir a importância da assistência multiprofissional às vítimas da violência sexual para redução dos agravos físicos, psíquicos e sociais que podem advir desta violência. Para tanto se faz uma breve descrição das atividades realizadas pelos diferentes profissionais que prestam assistência na Casa de Saúde da Mulher Professor Domingos Deláscio da Universidade Federal de São Paulo, e são apresentados alguns dos resultados deste trabalho nos seus cinco anos de existência. O artigo traça o perfil sócio-demográfico das mulheres vítimas de estupros que foram atendidas desde o início do serviço, detalhando quantas engravidaram e fizeram o aborto e o número de processos judiciais que foram abertos.Resumo em Inglês:
This article discusses the importance of multidisciplinary care for victims of sexual assault in order to mitigate the respective physical, psychological, and social harm. The article begins with a brief description of the activities by various professionals involved in the care of victims treated at the Women's Health Center of the Federal University in São Paulo, and presents the outcome of some cases treated at this institution in its five years of experience. The article provides the socio-demographic profile of female rape victims since the beginning of this women's health service, with the number of women who became pregnant, those who underwent abortion, and the number of court suits filed.Resumo em Português:
O Centro de Assistência Integral à Saúde da Mulher (CAISM) atende vítimas de violência sexual desde 1986. Em 1998 criou-se uma equipe multidisciplinar que provê atendimento de emergência e a longo prazo a estas mulheres. Desde agosto de 1998 até maio de 2006, 1.174 mulheres foram atendidas, sendo que 109 grávidas. Destas, foram feitos 71 abortos legais, 23 decidiram ter o bebê e 15 tinham gravidez acima do limite de 20 semanas. Não há suficientes serviços públicos que cuidem da mulher vítima de violência sexual e pratiquem o aborto legal no Brasil. Novos serviços são necessários assim como intervenções para reduzir a violência e os abortos.Resumo em Inglês:
The Women's Comprehensive Healthcare Center (CAISM) has provided care for women who have suffered sexual violence since 1986. Since 1998, a special multidisciplinary team has been in charge of emergency and long-term care for victims of sexual violence. From August 1998 to May 2006, 1,174 women were treated, with an average of 150 per year in the last five years. During the same period, 71/109 women who became pregnant after rape had their pregnancies terminated, 23/109 continued the pregnancy to term, and 15/109 did not undergo abortion due to gestational age greater than 20 weeks. In Brazil, there are not enough public services to treat female victims of sexual violence who require legal abortion. Nationwide implementation of new services should be encouraged, in addition to all measures known to reduce the problem such as sex education in schools and widespread information and easy access to effective contraception.Resumo em Português:
Este artigo analisa o atendimento à saúde de mulheres que sofreram violência sexual, tendo como foco a parceria entre governo e movimento organizado de mulheres. Toma como referência a bibliografia específica e o depoimento de alguns atores sociais que participaram desta construção. Os resultados mostram que apesar da importância, real e simbólica, do atendimento às vítimas de violência sexual, governo e movimento de mulheres não têm conseguido garantir a expansão destes serviços, nem articular a contento a discussão sobre a violência sexual e o direito das mulheres ao aborto em quaisquer condições, sendo necessário intensificar as ações em torno desta pauta.Resumo em Inglês:
This article analyzes treatment for female victims of sexual violence, with a focus on partnerships between government and the organized women's movement. The central references are the specific literature and testimony by key social actors who have participated in this process. The results show that despite the real and symbolic importance of care for rape victims, the government and the women's movement have not succeeded in guaranteeing the expansion of these services or adequately linking the discussion of sexual violence to women's right to abortion under any circumstances. It is thus necessary to step up the measures on this agenda.
